W.M. Maddox Jr., age 91, passed away Friday, June 10, 2016, at Florence Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 12, 2016, at Nelson Funeral Home Chapel. Revered Scott Davis officiated. Burial followed in the Fayette City Cemetery.
W.M. Maddox Jr. was a lifetime member of Fayette First Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon and head usher for most of those years. He was a veteran of Wold War II serving in the third army under Gen. George S. Patton.
Mr. Maddox is survived by his wife of 70 years, Louise Godfrey Maddox; three children, Shelia Maddox Tucker (Joe), of Russellville, Alabama, Sherry Maddox Price (James), of Fayette, Alabama, and Steve Maddox (Teresa), of Florence, Alabama; grandchildren, Melissa Tucker Medlin (Jamey), Mark Tucker (Leah), Tesha Price Bolling, Tyler Maddox (Courtney), and Mallory Maddox Willis (Chad); great-grandchildren, Tucker and Heather Medlin, Laney Elizabeth, Joshua, Luke and Joseph Tucker, Bryce and Levi Bolling, and Amira, Adley and Ashlyn Maddox; one sister, Christine Bobo, of Birmingham, Alabama; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy, and great-granddaddy who left a legacy of precious memories.
Pallbearers were Jamey Medlin, Mark Tucker, Tyler Maddox, Tucker Medlin, and Chad Willis.
