Visitation for Mr. W L Moon, age 66 of Ashland, will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland.
Mr. Moon passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at his home. He was a native of Tyler, Texas and a 12-year resident of South Carolina but had lived most of his life in Alabama. Mr. Moon was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy, and had worked as a truck driver for Floyd-Beasley, Tyson and Mitchell Oil Company. He was a member of the Masons.
Mr. Moon is survived by one daughter, Brandi Nicole Landers of Ashland; three sons: Jason Cooper and Billy Cooper, both of Talladega and Kevin Moon (Allison) of Lineville; two sisters: Mary Ann Greenwood of Virginia Beach, VA and Kathy Craven Finch of Ashland; two brothers: Clarence Edward Moon and Ray Moon; 11 grandchildren plus a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence Thomas Moon and Ruby Lee Mitchell Moon and one son, Shannon L. Moon.
There will be no public funeral service. The family requests no flowers but memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children by mail to 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive Tampa, FL 33607 or online at shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
