Voyed Herman Watts Sr., 78, of Haleyville, entered into rest Sunday, December 7, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.
Voyed was born on April 22, 1936 in Haleyville, Alabama. Voyed was a member of Nauvoo United Methodist Church, a Mason and a Shriner. He loved playing piano, music, gardening, and farming. Voyed served in the Alabama National Guard and attended the Vaughn School of Music, while in high school Voyed received the nickname of “Maude” from Jerry D. Gilbert. He was loved by many and owned several businesses, most considered him a jack of all trades.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 from 6-9pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville. where services will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 2pm. Reverend Roger Watkins and Steve Comeens will officiate. Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Voyed is survived by his wife, Nancy Gayle Watts; children, Voyed (Cathy) Watts Jr., Theresa Watts, Jamerson (Courtney) Watts; stepchildren, Jeanell (Chris) Simms, Jeremy Kimbrell, and Shadrick (Tammy) Kimbrell. He was “Granddad’ to 8 grandchildren, Rodney (Valerie) Dodd, David (Memorie) Nolen, Brandon Watts, Katie Simms, Baylie Simms, Griffin Kimbrell, Nash Kimbrell; and 1 great grandchild, Hunter Nolen.
He was preceded in death by his father, N.P. Watts; mother, Letha Elizabeth Watts; and brother, Rayburn Watts.
