ATHENS-Seniors in Athens and Limestone County can enjoy a summer Saturday evemt in the cool at the Athens/Limestone Senior Fun Fest.
The Limestone County Foundation for Aging is hosting the free event for those 60 years old and older on Saturday, July 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Limestone County Event Center.
“To host an event for our seniors where they can have fun and receive information pertinent to them from various agencies and businesses is rewarding for us,” said Brian Patterson, president of the Limestone County Foundation for Aging. “We have items to give away and door prizes thanks to our sponsors and supporters.”
Teresa Higgins, who is helping organize the event, said senior will be able to speak directly to local businesses and organizations about services and opportunities in the area. Athens Police and Athens Fire and Rescue also will have presentations.
“We will have booths set up for those who want to learn more about finances, volunteer opportunities in our community and activities offered at our senior centers,” Higgins said. “We will also have a health screening.”
There will be free hamburgers and hot dogs as well as entertainment provided by the Prime Time Players form Poke Sallet Follies. Other activities include a cake walk and bingo.
