Virginia Simpson, 86, of Decatur, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Limestone Health Facility. A Celebration of Life service will be Sunday, December 6, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel, with Alan Watkins and Jere Spurlin officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, December 6, 2015, from 1 pm until 2 p.m. with services to follow. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Simpson was a secretary at Monsanto, a homemaker, real estate agent and apartment complex manager, a member of Grant Street Church of Christ, an avid bridge player and bowler.
She was born in Pulaski, Tennessee, on March 14, 1929, to Lafayette and Maggie Lou Poarch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Morris, Alec, Davis and Clifford Poarch; sister, Mary Lou Valentine; and granddaughter, Anna Marie Simpson.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William Carol Simpson, of Decatur; sons, Tony (Janiece) Simpson and Tim (Jeanne) Simpson, both of Decatur; brother, Robert (Marilyn) Poarch, of Ardmore, Tennessee; sister, Violet (Tony) Norman, of Pulaski, Tennessee; grandchildren, Leslie Simpson, of Decatur, Christie Eng (Chris), of Meridianville, Charlee Moore (Jake), of Decatur, Samantha Duke (Eric), of Mobile, Stephanie Chandler (Keith), of Athens, Paul Simpson, Kathryn Simpson and Joel Simpson, all of Decatur; and great-grandchildren, Blakeleigh, Drake, Liam, Lincoln, Jack, Isaac and Georgia.
Pallbearers will be Paul Simpson, Joel Simpson, Jake Moore, Chris Eng, Keith Chandler, Eric Duke and Buster Betz.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grant Street Church of Christ.
