Virginia Kay McKeown Kelly, at age 77, died at North MS Medical Center in Tupelo a day before her 78th birthday. A Union County native, Virginia was born on January 12, 1946 to the late Orbie Lee McKeown and Sammie Inez Pannell McKeown. She grew up in New Albany and attended Center School. On Nov. 30, 1965, she married Larry W. Kelly, who survives. Virginia was a kind, loving soul whose primary occupation her whole life was that of a beloved daughter, sister, Mother and “Grandma” who tended the home as a master homemaker and made life as perfect as possible for her family. A Baptist, she had attended Solid Rock Refuge in Tremont since moving to Itawamba County 10 years ago. Virginia enjoyed being with family and friends and keeping up with them with frequent phone calls, watching TV and reading. A quiet lady with a strong sense of humor, she was a Godly woman who lived boldly with a strong faith that provided for her needs. She will be missed.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 PM Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo with Bro. Ray Stevens officiating. For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed at 2 PM Thursday (1/18/24) at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Live-streaming, and will be archived thereafter.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 59 years, Larry Kelly of Fulton; two sons, Joel Kelly (Karen) of Fulton, and Shaun Kelly (Shelia) of Myrtle; a daughter, Beth Pennycuff (Chris Fries) of Saltillo; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Ann and Carolyn.
