Virginia Hatzidakis was 97 years old when she passed away at home on September 2nd after a short illness with her family at her side. Virginia was born in Massachusetts where she met her husband George of 53 years. They later moved to North Carolina and Virginia before settling in Southern California. After retiring from Los Angeles County, she and her husband lived in Greece for 12 years and then returned to California to be closer to family. Virginia was a kind and generous soul who loved entertaining. Especially cooking Greek dishes and desserts. She loved dogs and was an excellent seamstress. After her husband died she lived with her two daughters, sharing times at each house. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, her husband George and her daughter Demetra. The last year of her life she moved to Alabama with her family. She loved those daily visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved her new home, especially the car rides with all the green fields and trees. She always said it reminded her of her younger days. She leaves behind her daughters Paula (Cliff) Wirtz of Alabama and Penny York of California. She also leaves two loving grandchildren and three great grandchildren. she will be honored at a Funeral Service on September 4, 2026, at 10:00 am at Holy Cross – St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 3021 University Dr, Huntsville, AL 35816, US.
