Virginia ‘Gran Gin’ Pennington Jenkins, 79, of Huntsville passed away peacefully Monday surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Madison Sr and Ruth Pennington, as well as, a brother, Madison Pennington Jr.
Survivors include daughter, Melody Jenkins Harwell (Kevin) of Huntsville; sister, Margarett P. Merryman of Taft, TN; granddaughters, Brittney Gilliland Liebbe (Greg) of Montgomery and Ashley Gilliland Jolley (Joe) of Albertville; great-granddaughter, Aleya Jolley; step great-grandson, Xander Jolley; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Virginia was very proud of her family and loved spending time and traveling with them. She enjoyed gospel music, getting together with her high school classmates, ‘The Peaches’, and worshiping her Lord at her longtime church home, Holmes Street United Methodist. Those who knew her best remember her cheering on Dale Jr. and yelling ‘ROLL TIDE!!!’
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Holmes Street United Methodist Church, 501 Holmes Ave., Huntsville, AL 35801. There will be a celebration of life to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Todd Owen officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
