Virginia Gladys Eley Harper passed away July 22, 2013.

She was born March 13, 1914, in Unionville, Tenn.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 25, 10-11 a.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home, Florence. The service will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with her sons, Larry and Dan, and son-in-law, Manson Behel, officiating. The graveside service and interment will also follow at 3 p.m. at Unionville Cemetery, Unionville, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Keith and Kraig Behel, Tim, Greg, Scott and Josh Harper and grandsons-in law, Chuck Garrett, Eric Jenkins and Joe Leachman.

Gladys Harper was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ivy Harper; and son, Ivy Mark Harper; parents, William A. and Evie Wheelhouse Eley; brothers, Don, Bill, Clay Cecil and G.L. Eley; sister, Ruby Eley Snell.

Survivors include

daughter, Wyna (Manson) Behel; sons, Larry (Jeanette) Harper, of Florence, Dan (Alice) Harper, of Birmingham, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Susan Ralston Harper, of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother, James M. Eley, of Corinth, Miss.; sister, Evylin Lowe, of Shelbyville, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Her family wishes to say thanks to the many who have, over the almost 100 years of her life, extended friendship and joy to our mother. A special thanks to Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home for their exceptional care.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to a charity of your choice .
