Memorial service for Virginia “Ginger” Sheffield, 72, of Decatur, will be Sunday, September 8, 2013, at 2 p.m. at 1213 Donna Avenue SE. She was born December 13, 1940, in Topeka, Kansas, to William and Roma Richards. Ginger was an Alabama fan and loved NASCAR. Jimmie Johnson was her favorite driver. Ginger will be missed by her dog of 12 years, Shelby.
Survivors include her husband, Ken Sheffield; one daughter, Karen Peoples; stepson, Scott Sheffield and his wife, Tanya; eight grandchildren, Ricky Owen, Skyler and his wife, Lyndsie, Sheena, Spencer King, Aiden, Austin Sheffield, Lesley, Dane and Leelyn Sheffield; two great-grandchildren, Jaylee and Raelyn King; one sister, Lynn Menne; nine nieces, Wendy, Ann Marie, Cindy, Jess, Debbie, Stephanie, Elaine Marie Richards, Kim Campbell, Michelle Menne; four nephews, Roy and Billy Richards, Todd Densley and Michael Menne. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, William and Gary Richards; and two sons, Douglas and Steven Sheffield.
