Virginia Faith “Jenny” Phillips, 89, of Dora, was born January 1, 1929, and left this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Birmingham East Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mrs. Phillips was lunchroom manager at Empire Junior High School and a member of the Sumiton United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service to follow at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Tom Salter will officiate.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Frank Phillips, Sr.; her parents, Michael Thomas Gill and Mabel Johnson Gill; brothers, Thomas and Hoyt Gill; sisters Betty Allman and Josephine Gill.
She is survived by her daughters, Rebecca P. Thomas (Steve) of Jasper and Rosemary Brown (Barry) of Pinson; son, Joe Frank Phillips, Jr. of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Jennifer Thomas Haithcoat (Charlie) of Dora, Matthew Allen Thomas (April) of Dora, Joseph Blake Phillips (Riley) of Denver, CO and Sarah Elizabeth Brown (Andrew) of Helena; great grandchildren , Briley, Browning, River, Davy, Holland, Sadie and Caspian; step great grandson Hunter Haithcoat; sister Kathleen Tibbs of Moody.
Pall bearers will be Matthew Thomas, Charlie Haithcoat, Blake Phillips, Andrew Brown, Phil Nix and Tom Yarbrough.
In lieu of flowers the family ask that donations be made to Sumiton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 55, Sumiton, Alabama 35148.
