Following a brief illness, Virginia F. Rogers died Aug. 4, 2013. The family will welcome guests from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Greenview Funeral Home. A celebration of life will follow at 11 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial at Oakwood Cemetery, Sheffield, Ala. Brother Steve Reding, of North Wood United Methodist Church, will conduct the service.
Husband John C. Rogers predeceased Virginia by almost 14 years. Mrs. Rogers, born in Arlington, Tenn., was predeceased by her parents, brothers and sisters.
Survivors include son, John and wife, Dorothy Rogers, of Mobile, Ala.; daughter, Rita and husband, Danny Reese, of Cookeville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Shannon Rogers Moore and husband, Chip, of Birmingham, Carol Rogers Erickson and husband, Teddy, of Mobile, Ala., Wes Rogers and wife, Monica, of Tampa, Fla., Neil Reese and wife, Tia, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Braxton Reese and wife, Jennifer, of Birmingham; great-grandchildren, John and Preston Moore, Laura and Brett Erickson, Cameron Smith, Emma Pugh and Jessa Reese, Leighton and Campbell Reese. She loved her family and any time she could spend with a family member. She will be missed as mother, Nanny, and friend.
While residing in Florence, she was a member of North Wood United Methodist Church and the Florence Golf and Country Club. After moving to Mobile, Ala., she joined St. Mark United Methodist Church and was an active member of the Mobile Bridge Center.
Pallbearers will be Wes Rogers, Neil Reese, Braxton Reese, Chip Moore, Teddy Erickson, Brett Erickson, John Moore, Preston Moore and Leighton Reese.
The family is grateful for the many kind words extended during her illness.
