Born on January 8, 1923, in “Hatchie Bottom”, Mrs. Virginia was the daughter of the late Henrey and Myrtle Ford Hall. She received her education from Dumas School and was employed with Genesco Shoe Factory for over thirty years until her retirement in 1982. She was a devoted home maker for all of her life, and dedicated wife, loving mother, exemplary grandmother and great grandmother.
A faithful member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and devoted Christian, Mrs. Viginia’s main mission in life was to guide others to the love of God. She was passionately devoted to her church, as she loved all the kids of the church and served as a Sunday School teacher for over fifty years. Mrs. Virgina’s favorite pastimes included gardening, tending to her flowers, working on her crosswords and word search puzzles, and especially eating out and shopping, as long as someone else was paying the bill-she was very frugal when it came to money. Most importantly she loved her family and read and studied her bible daily. Her grandchildren remember fondly of all the nights spent at her home, and her opening the bible to read them stories out of it. Mrs. Virgina was one of the strongest, bravest, and kindest people to grace this planet. Although her presence will be missed greatly, we will always cherish every story she told, prayer she prayed, and memory made together.
Those left to cherish her memories include her son, Freddie Crawford (Mavis), four grandchildren, Amanda Holliday (James Allen), Kevin Crawford, Jody Crawford (Erica), and Stephanie Rose (Rodney), ten great grandchildren, and four great great grandchildren, with one on the way.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Thomas Earl Crawford, and a daughter in law, Jane Crawford.
Ripley Funeral Home invites you to share memories with Mrs. Virgina’s family.
