Funeral service for Virginia Elizabeth Gay Hamilton Moran, age 94, of Trinity, will be Friday, November 8, 2013, 3:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Ben Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Moran, who died Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at her daughter’s residence in Trinity, was born October 26, 1919, in Lawrence County, to Walter Tillman Gay and Maudie Irene McFall Gay. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Thomas Neal Hamilton and Curtis Moran; her parents; two brothers, Walter T. Gay and William P. “Bill” Gay; and two sisters, Bessy Sue Sims and Mildred Sims. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church for 28 years.
She is survived by one son, Kenneth N. Hamilton (Carol) of Decatur; two daughters, Rebecca “Becky” Arnold of Trinity, and Barbara Moss of Decatur; two stepdaughters, Faye Brackin (Speedy) and Rhea Waldrop, both of Town Creek; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Neal Hamilton, Jason Hill, Slaten Hamilton, Sam Mathis, Trey Mathis, and Hunter Mathis. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Moss, Sebastian Steele, and Brandon Alvis.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of North Alabama.
