Funeral Services for Mrs. Virginia Cloud Cotney, age 89 of Huntsville, will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Springhill Christian Church with Dr. Alan Cotney Jr and Rev. Dan Keith officiating. Burial will follow at the Lineville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Cotney passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville. She was born in Albertville and was a graduate of Lineville High School. She worked at General Electric and Brown Marx in Birmingham out of high school, but primarily worked at Higgins Slacks as a seamstress for 30 years. She worked for Wellborn Cabinets as an operator in the Door Department until she retired at 70 years old, and then lived in Wetumka and finally Huntsville. Mrs. Cotney enjoyed listening to and playing Southern Gospel. She was a faithful Member, Piano Player, and Sunday School Teacher for Springhill Christian Church for many years. Mrs. Cotney never met a stranger, could talk to anyone, and had a giving and volunteer mindset.

Mrs. Cotney is survived by her son, Alan Cotney Sr. of Huntsville; her grandson, Dr. Alan Cotney Jr. (Beth) of Ocala, FL; 5 great-grandchildren: Will, Emma, Drew, Kate, and Bela; and her nephew, Danny Cox (Cindy) of Chelsea.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Bert Holly and Dolsie Mae Macoy Cloud; her husband, Adrian “Pete” Cotney; and her sister, Annette Cloud Cox.

Active Pallbearers will be William Cotney, Andrew Cotney, Carlton DeVaughn, Eugene Ruggerio, Tommy Burdette, and Jimmy Burdette.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Theron Hendrix, Wayne Bond, Fred Thompson Jr, Johnny Mack Alexander, and Kenny Alexander.

Her visitation will take place on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 12:00 P.M. until 1:30 P.M.
