Virginia Childers Smith, 94, of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her home on June 23,2025. She was born on October 2, 1930, in Dillsboro, North Carolina to Howard and Nina Childers.
Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Newton Jason Smith, as well as her parents Howard and Nina J. Childers, and her brothers Burton Boyd, and Robert Childers.
She is Survived by her son, Steven Randy Smith (Tennie), and her grandson, Jason Otis Smith (Erin). Virginia is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Anderson, who resides in Brevard, North Carolina.
Virginia and Newton lovingly raised their son, Randy, and shared a life filled with love, devotion, and faith. Virginia had a successful career with Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Huntsville, Alabama, where she served as the head of accounting. A devout member of Elon Church of Christ, she was known for her unwavering faith and commitment to her church and community.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Virginia’s devoted neighbors and friends, especially Jimmy and Annie Lou Jenkins, for their tireless support and care over the years. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Graveside Services will be held at Hampton Cove Cemetery, Thursday at 2:00 pm with Bro. Mitchell Brown officiating.
Interment will be in Hampton Cove Cemetery.
