Funeral for Virgie Viola Chaney Penwell, 92, of Falkville, will be Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with The Reverend Randy Ashley officiating. Burial will be in the Powell’s Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6 – 8 pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Penwell was born February 07, 1921, in Cullman to Tom Roberts and Effie Powell Roberts. She passed away February 24, 2013, at Falkville Health Care. Mrs. Penwell was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her two husbands, Elmer Chaney and Ira Penwell; three brothers; and one sister.
Mrs. Penwell is survived by four sons, Hal (Blanche) Chaney, of Hartselle, Bob (Wanda) Chaney, of Falkville, Steve (Denise) Chaney, of Falkville, and John (Janice) Chaney, of West Point; one daughter, Judy (Jeff) Stiles, of Eva; two sisters, Myrl Brown of Indiana and Mrytle Waid of Montgomery, AL; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Chris Thrasher, Brian Stiles, Carl Waid, Mark Wylie, Christy Chaney, and Amy Chaney.
