Virgie E. Richardson – Obituary

Virgie  Earline RichardsonVirgie E. Richardson, 98 of Tuscumbia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, October 7, 2018, after an extended illness. She was the youngest of 6 children of Jerome and Allie Moore, of Cherokee, AL.
She is survived by 3 sons, Jacky L. (Linda), Samuel A. (Donna), and R. Larry (Joyce), all of Tuscumbia; along with 10 grandchildren, Sherri Richardson, Jacquelyn Kobet, Rob Richardson, Doug Richardson, Wes Richardson, Wendy Perkins, Dr. Christi Johnson, Michelle Holland, Brett Richardson, Loren Richardson; and 15 great-grandchildren, who all knew her as Maw Maw. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Virgie was a longtime member of Valdosta Baptist Church, and sang in the choir, as well as a member of the Helen Keller Garden Club. She worked as a receptionist at Sheffield Federal and other local businesses. She also worked as a seamstress in her home for many years.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Valdosta Baptist Church, in Tuscumbia, with the funeral to follow at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Joe Stone and Rev. Jeff Newton officiating. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be grandsons along with nephews, Dr. Gary Hester, Ronnie Sherrill, and Phillip Richardson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Valdosta Baptist Church, 103 E. Marion Avenue, Tuscumbia, AL 35674.
