It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Virgie Christian Bowden, aged 78, of Harvest, who passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, April 30th, 2025. Born on March 20th, 1947, in Huntsville, Mrs. Bowden was a daughter of H.B. Christian and Sally Tipton Christian.
Mrs. Bowden leaves behind a loving family who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her daughters, Cherie Funkhouser and her husband Eric of Madison, and Sheila Bowden of Harvest. She is also survived by her sisters, Lerrie Bowden of Ardmore and Vollie Christian of Huntsville, along with numerous nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Mrs. Bowden is preceded in death by her husband, Delmar Ray Bowden; her son, Jeffery LaRay Bowden; her parents, H.B. and Sally Christian; brothers, Buddy Christian and Melvin Christian; and sisters, Beacher Mae Colbert, Sylvia Brazier, Rachel Wales, Ona Bowden, and Malasia Holman.
The funeral services to honor and celebrate the life of Mrs. Bowden will be held on Friday, May 2nd, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Bro. Jenkins will officiate the ceremony. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm, allowing friends and family to gather and pay their respects. Following the service, Mrs. Bowden will be laid to rest at Ford’s Chapel Cemetery. Honoring Mrs. Bowden by serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Bowden, Eric Funkhouser, Jacky Bowden, Jason Christian, Terry Wales, Tony Bowden, David Bowden, and Caden Posey.
Mrs. Bowden’s life was a testament to love and dedication to her family, and her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
