Funeral services for Viola Francis McVey, age 81, of Clay County will be held at Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Bible Church on Tuesday August 1, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. John Lucky officiating. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. McVey was born in Talladega but lived in Clay County most all of her life. She attended Munford High School and went on to marry her husband of 52 years, John “June bug” McVey. She remained a housewife throughout her life so she could take care of her husband and children. She enjoyed having coffee every day. She loved being outdoors and working in her flower gardens and spending time with her pets and farm animals. Another past time she enjoyed was gossiping at yard sales. She also loved spending time with her other numerous family members.

Mrs. McVey is survived by her husband John McVey; her daughters, Cindy Lacey (Johnny), Wendy Prescott (Kenny); her sons, Samuel Eugene “Dean” Brown, Danny Brown (Lynn ), Scottie McVey, and Rickey McVey; brothers, Tommy White and Joe White; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louie McCormick and Chesley White; 3 sisters, Louise Royal, Betty Ann and Annie Ruth.

Active pallbearers will be Aaron Prescott, Eric Prescott, John Lacey, Tim Noland, Ryan Noland, and Cody McVey.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the nurses at Sylacauga Health and Rehab and the nurses at Coosa Valley Medical Center.

Her visitation will take place on Tuesday August 1, 2023 from 12:30-2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Hill Methodist Protestant Bible Church.
