Mr. Villard Jones, 86, of Killen, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Glenwood Health Care following an extended illness. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2013, at Killen Church of Christ. The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 21, 2013, in the church with Stan Dean officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park. Mr. Jones was a member of Killen Church of Christ where he served as a deacon from 1974 to Dec. 31, 2010; he also loved to lead the singing. He was a former member of the Killen Fire Department, was employed at Reynolds Alloys from Nov. 21, 1944, to April 1, 1984, when he retired as foreman of the box shop.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Eli and Oma T. Jones; sister, Eunice Smith; and brother, Arvil Jones. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gladys Peck Jones; daughters, Marjorie Jones Ezell (Chipper), Florence, and Wanda Jones, Germantown, Tenn.; brother, Elvis Jones (Maebeth), Muscle Shoals; sister, Jean Harrison (Bob), Town Creek; grandchildren, Jordan Ezell, Florence, Morgan Holt (Dean), Collierville, Tenn., and Brandon Kimbrough (Ashley), Collierville, Tenn.; great-grandchildren, Emmersen Holt, Clara Holt, Canaan James Holt and Hadleigh Kimbrough, all of Collierville, Tenn.
Pallbearers will be Stan Thompson, Floyd Moore, Travis Rushing, Dick Smith, Ronnie Hannah and Jerry Mitchell. Elders and deacons of Killen Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Robert Mann for the special care given to Mr. Jones over the years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mars Hill Bible School, 698 Cox Creek Parkway, Florence, AL, 35630, in Mr. Jones’ name.
