Vila Mary Parris Tyree

Vila Mary Parris Tyree, 95 of Arley, entered into rest on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Hanceville Nursing and Rehab surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 4, 1925 in Winston County, Alabama. She was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 50 years. Among her hobbies, she enjoyed sewing, reading and gardening.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 6-8pm at Liberty Baptist Church in the Helicon Community, where services will be held on Thursday at 11am. She will lie in state from 10-11am on Thursday. Reverend Kerry Cleghorn and Reverend Greg Dollar will officiate. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Vila is survived by her son, Steve Tyree and his wife Glenda; daughters, Sandra P. Hicks, and Jayne Waldrep and her husband Michael; brother, Bobby Parris; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dolphus Tyree; parents, Elton D. Parris and Burvie Jane Hill Parris; son, Ricky Tyree; brother, Nathan Parris; sisters, Lorene Woodard, Gladys Parris, Lillibell Woodard, Christene Camp and Audrey Stricklin.
