Victor J. Johnson, age 93, passed away Oct. 12, 2017, after a lengthy illness. His funeral will be today at 11 a.m. at Spry-Williams Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Coats officiating. Burial will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m.
Vic was born in Baltimore, Maryland but lived most of his life in Florence. He was employed as an accountant at Ford Motor Company for 28 years. He later taught English courses at UNA for several years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force serving in World War II and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert (Bob) Johnson. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Jewell S. Johnson; daughter, Jean Ann Johnson, and son-in-law, Denver Sasser; grandchildren, Kevin Greene and Hillary Coats; three great-grandchildren; and a niece and nephews.
