Vicki Lewter Durham Vicki Lewter Durham passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025 in Belle Chasse, LA. She was 76 years old.
Vicki was born at Giles County Hospital on July 15, 1949 in Pulaski, TN to Ernest and Alcie Lewter. A lifelong member of Wheelerton Baptist Church, she grew up in Bee Spring and Wheelerton, and was a graduate of Elkton High School. She married and had 4 children: Layla, Will, Lindsey, and Loren. Her family moved briefly to the St. Louis, MO area before settlling down in the New Orleans, LA area. In her later years, she alternated between living at “home” in Tennessee and with her adult children in Louisiana. She was an avid dog lover, and adored Sandy, Lyssa, Lilly and Lucy, as they brought her great joy and companionship. Her hobbies included crafting, sewing, and embroidery. She celebrated important events in the lives of family and friends by creating customized cards: watercolor paintings, 3D accents, and original poems were some of the ways she made sure that each card was special. Music was also important to her, and she particularly enjoyed singing hymns and songs of praise with her siblings and church family.

She is survived by her son, Will Durham; daughters, Lindsey Robichaux (Casey) and Loren Orgeron (Robbie); son-in-law, Rob Chase; grandchildren, Connor (Mckenzie), Cody, Cooper, and Mckenzie Chase; great-grandson, Cohen Chase; sister, Eva Claire Smith; brother, Owen Lewter (Mary Ann); and many nieces, nephews, and other loved ones and dear friends.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Layla Chase; parents, Ernest H. Lewter, Sr. and Alcie Vickers Lewter; brother, Ernest H. Lewter, Jr.; and brother-in-law, William “Sonny” Smith.

Visitation will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Wheelerton Baptist Church from 10:00am until the time of service at noon. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Wheelerton Baptist Church and the Wheelerton Baptist Church Cemetery fund.

Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements for Vicki Lewter Durham.
