Graveside services for Mr. Vernon Blankenship, age 83, are scheduled for 3 PM, Monday, September 14, 2015 at Highland Memorial Gardens in Jackson. Pafford Funeral Home of Lexington is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Blankenship passed away Thursday in Lexington. He was born January 30, 1932 in West Virginia. He was a proud Chicago, Illinois factory worker for over 40 years. Vernon was a good, kind-hearted person that helped anyone and everyone that was down on their luck or a needy soul. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margie Collins, two daughters, Kathy Goar and Linda Blankenship, three brothers, Ernest Blankenship, Bobby Blankenship, and Leonard Maynard; and one granddaughter. Survivors include his three sons, Michael (Jacqueline) Blankenship, Vernon Lee Blankenship, and Jeffrey Fred Blankenship; two sisters, Kathryn and Jean; and eight grandchildren. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Carl Perkins Center in Lexington.
