Vernon Bearden – Obituary

Vernon Bearden, age 62, of Owens Cross Roads, AL, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at UAB Hospital. Mr. Bearden retired from the Army and continued to work as a civil servant in the Black Hawk Helicopter program for the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command. He was a member of Providence Presbyterian Church, the Gideons, and the Sons of Confederate Veterans. He was active in Conservative Christians of Alabama in promoting political candidates, and in promoting the display and honor of the Ten Commandments. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Bearden and Honor Townsend Bearden. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jean Bearden, his sons Joseph Bearden and his wife Sarah of Trinity, AL, and Daniel Bearden of Owens Cross Roads, daughters Sarah Nowlin and her husband Matthew of Memphis, TN, and Emily Guddat and her husband Jeremy of Seattle, WA, brothers Dale Bearden and Eldon Bearden, sister Grace Wells and her husband Fred, grandchildren Hosanna and Mercy Bearden, and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday November 28, 2014, from 5 to 7 PM at Hampton Cove Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at Calvary Bible Church at 607 Drake Avenue in Huntsville, AL, on Saturday November 29, 2014, at 11:00 AM with burial in Hampton Cove Cemetery.
