Verlon Elmo BellVerlon Elmo Bell was born in Albertville, Alabama on July 16, 1933. He passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 at Shepherds Cove. He is survived by two sisters and one brother, Linda Faye McCracken of Okeechobee, Fl, Martha Jean Bell of Albertville, Alabama, and Earl Lavon Bell of Waynesville, Missouri. Verlon had one foster daughter Tammy Meeks and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mr. Bell was well cared by Home care nurses during the last years of his life. He was blessed to have the friendship and help of his neighbor Glenda Lavender. Verlon lived in Wauchula, and Lake Placid Florida before retiring from Consolidated Tomoka Land Co. and returning to Albertville. He was a long time member of Southside Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending weekdays at the Albertville Senior Center. Verlon spent many hours walking in the community inviting children to Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. He had a deep faith in JESUS Christ and desired that his family and friends would follow the example of his commitment. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ in will rise first then we who are alive and remaining shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And we shall always be with the Lord therefore comfort one another with these words. Funeral Services for Mr. Bell will be 3:00pm Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Southside Baptist Church with Jeff Martin officiating. Ricky Ragsdale, Keith Duke, Ben Gore, Tim Gore, Wesley Duke, John Peters, Tim Simmons and Jonathan Johnson will serve as Pallbearers. Burial will follow in Beulah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm until time for the service at 3:00pm Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Southside Baptist Church.
The family request donations be made to Southside Baptist Church.
Albertville Funeral Home Downtown is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
