Vergie H. Nicholas, age 88, of Woodville, Ala., passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Highlands Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held at the Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 23, at 11 a.m. with Minister Gary Patton officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery in Woodville.
Mrs. Nicholas is survived by son, James (Jo Ann) Nicholas of Killen; daughters, Paula (Jim) Butler, of Scottsboro, and Judy Goin, of Woodville; grandchildren, Jody (Jeff) Huggins, Sara (Brad) Holmes, Lori (John) Paschal, Lisa (Patrick) Hammett, Ricky (Jessica) Goin and Jenny (Lester) Hamilton; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nicholas; parents, O.D. and Mae Hodges; grandson, Nicholas Butler; and sister, Glennis Patterson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Scottsboro Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank Highlands Health and Rehab Center for the great care of Mrs. Vergie Nicholas for the past three years.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Union Cemetery at P.O. Box 26, Woodville, AL 35776.
