Vera Lee Terry Butler – Obituary

Funeral services for Vera Lee Terry Butler, 94, of Moulton, will be Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Moulton First United Methodist Church with Pastor Amy Howard and Reverend Larry Wright officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 2 to 2:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur.

Mrs. Butler died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Lawrence Medical Center. She was born February 2, 1920, in Moulton to Arthur R. Terry and Annie Patterson Terry. She graduated from Lawrence County High School and graduated from Rainey’s Beauty Academy in 1954. She was a beautician in Decatur for 40 years. She was a member of Moulton First United Methodist Church and Memorial Drive Methodist Church in Decatur for more than 80 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 33 years, longtime Decatur barber Melvin Owen Butler; sisters, Virgia Montgomery, Bertha Sanderson and Berlin Sanderson; brothers, Dee Terry and Birtice Terry. She is survived by her sister, Helen Montgomery of Moulton; one niece, six nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Arthur Warren Sanderson, Dwight Sanderson, Gerald Terry, Willard Terry, Andy Montgomery and Harry Montgomery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Moulton First United Methodist Church.
