Vera Jewel RamsayVera Jewel Cook Green Ramsay of Guntersville, Alabama, passed through heaven’s gate into the waiting arms of the Lord on June 11, 2024. Born June 4, 1947, Vera was the daughter of Van Buren Cook and Gladys (Jones) Cook.
Vera attended nursing school and worked at Arab Hospital. She also managed several retail shops in Guntersville. Vera loved listening to gospel music, especially the Gaithers. Vera was a very giving person who would help anyone in need. Vera could spark up a conversation with anyone and had a great sense of humor. Her greatest love, aside from her husband, was encouraging and supporting the dreams of her children and grandchildren. Vera had a strong faith in the Lord, and we know she will rest in peace and rise in glory.
Vera is survived by her loving husband of 40 years John D. Ramsay (Pappi), her brother Wallace (Diane) Cook, and sister Becky Whitehead; two children, Sherry Green Newman, and Anthony Green (Perry); three grandchildren; Kristen (Colby) Weatherman, Larissa (Lee) Mosley, and Michael Ward-Green; and nine great-grandchildren, Connor, Lacey, Liza, Angelese, Xavier, Isabella, Judah, Nehemiah, and Nico, and several nieces and nephews. Vera is predeceased by her brother Van Cook, and first husband of 25 years, Billy W Green.
Calling hours are on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 3 to 4 p.m., followed by a memorial service from 4 to 5 at the Carr Funeral Home, 1960 O’Brig Ave, Guntersville, AL 35976. The interment will be at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, AL 35115 at a later date.
The family would like to thank everyone at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, especially nurses Athena, Melody, and Chaplain Lynn, for their compassionate and loving care. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, 408 Martling Road, Albertville, AL 35951.
