Vera Jean Miller – Obituary

Vera Jean Miller 96 of Madison, AL passed away peacefully February 9, 2019 of natural causes.

Born January 17, 1923 in South Bend IN, Vera was the last survivor of twelve children. She was a faithful Christian, loving mother, homemaker and perpetual volunteer for over 50 years. Vera was preceded in death by Herschel Miller husband of 72 years.

She is survived by son Brian (Rosemary), daughter Joan Fischer (Christopher), two grandchildren Travis (Courtney), Brent (Sarah) and four great grandchildren.

She spent most of her life in Royal Oak and Birmingham Michigan. As a volunteer she ran the food service at the First Presbyterian Church for 20 years, served the Red Cross, delivered Meals on Wheels, and knitted baby hats for the Beaumont Hospital. Vera was a member of PEO sorority, Red Hat Ladies, Garden Club and organized social events in her neighborhood. Vera & Herschel moved to Huntsville in 2003 to join their son.  She continued knitting hats for Huntsville Hospital, over 1000 in all, and volunteered at the Asbury Thrift Store.

Memorial Services will be held at Asbury Church, 980 Hughes Rd. Madison, AL, Saturday March 23, 1:00 pm, reception immediately following.
