Funeral service for Vera Elizabeth Gillespie, age 93, formerly of Decatur, will be today, May 20, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dallas Culver officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service. Interment will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Gillespie, who died Monday, May 18, 2015, in Jackson, TN, was born June 25, 1921, in Lawrence County, AL, to Jasper Roberts and Lela Thompson Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by two sons, Gordon Gillespie and Bill Gillespie, both of McMinnville, TN; three daughters, Margaret Ann Carr of Paint Rock Valley, Patricia Jones (Robert) of Beech Bluff, TN, and Carolyn Wright of Memphis, TN; one brother, Orval Roberts (Imogene) of Decatur; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Jones, Daniel Jones, Shawn Hughey, Bryan Ratcliff, David Jackson, and Carson Jones.
