Veora Posey Skipworth, age 83, of Tuscumbia, died Saturday, December 1, 2012. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, December 3, from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. William Brewer will be officiating. Interment will be in Barton Cemetery.
Mrs. Skipworth was a lifelong resident of Colbert County, and a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-one years, Howard Skipworth; parents, Newton and Ruby Posey; brothers, Herbert and Floyd Posey; and sister, Gertie Mae Posey.
Survivors include sons, Joseph Skipworth (Maureen) and Jerry Skipworth (Ruth); daughter, Reneese Puckett (Terry); grandchildren, Dennis Skipworth, Christi Skipworth, Serena Thorn, Ladonna Fountain, Jerri Quinn, and Bart Puckett; and great grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Graham, Jacob Thorn, Andrew Thorn, Jesika Thorn, Justin Glaze, Raymond Glaze, Brayden Davis, and Bane Quinn.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
The family acknowledges with sincere gratitude the services, care, and support offered by Dr. Ronald McCoy, and by the staff and caregivers of Southern Care Hospice.
