Veleria Belle Driggers, 91, of Hazel Green, passed away Saturday, March 13.
Veleria was a lifelong resident of Hazel Green, Alabama. She was born to Adolphus “Dolphus” Lee (Doffis) Hill and Cora Jones. She retired from the Division of Transportation at Redstone Arsenal after 30 years of service. Veleria enjoyed gardening and reading, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren in retirement years. Veleria was a strong, loving, caring, giving, and compassionate woman who was loved by all.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ewert and Karen Guthrie; grandchildren, Charley, Nickie, Chrissy, and Taylor; great grandchildren, Kendall and Jackson; and her sisters, Evelyn Plah, Atlas Tucker, Veleria, and Christine Phillips. Veleria is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Driggers; daughter, Elizabeth Putman; parents, Dolphus and Cora.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 19 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow directly after at 2 p.m. with Reverend Benny Berry officiating. Interment will take place at Bevills Chapel Cemetery.
