Vaughn Thomas Brown – Obituary

Vaughn Thomas Brown, 78, of Huntsville, formerly of Jonesboro, IL, passed away Wednesday. Mr. Brown was a retired Certified Public Accountant, receiving his Alabama Certificate in 1969. As a United States Air Force Veteran, Staff Sargent, he traveled through Europe, a favorite destination being Copenhagen. He was a graduate of the University of Alabama, class of 1963, with a Bachelors in Accounting.

In 1966 Mr. Brown began working for the accounting firm of Taylor, Snyder & Company as a Tax Partner, where he became known for his exceptional client care. In 1990, the firm was renamed Brown, Tucker & Smith, where he was Senior Partner until his retirement. Today, the firm operates as Tucker, Smith & Associates. In retirement, he enjoyed golfing, travel, movies, spending time with close friends, and University of Alabama football.

Survivors include a daughter: Janet Nelson (David); a son: Mike Brown; a sister: Susan Pitts (Paul); 2 grandchildren: Zachary and Eric; Nephew: Brian; Nieces: Pam, Jennifer, and Lisa. A receiving of friends will be January 28th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the University of Alabama National Alumni Association or the Salvation Army.
