Mrs. Vassie Bryant Vassie Hutcheson Bryant, 89, of Albertville, entered into eternal rest Monday morning, September 3rd, at Marshall Medical Center North. Vassie was born October 24th, 1928, to Henry and Evelyn Hutcheson of Albertville, AL; the youngest of 7 children (who have all preceded her in death). She was a graduate of Albertville High School’s Class of 1946 and married the late J.C. Bryant, love of her life, on August 9th, 1946. She and J.C. would be loyally and happily married for nearly 60 years until death did them part in March of 2006. Vassie and J.C. were the loving parents of 3 children; Charles Bryant (deceased), Wayne Bryant (Pam), and Kathy Bryant Gore (Paul). They would go on to become the beloved grandparents (Nannie & Granddaddy) of 6 grandchildren: Hollie Carranza (deceased), Matt Bryant (April), Joey Whitehead, Robin Gore (Luke), Drew Bryant, and Auston Gore (Erin), 8 great grandchildren: Avery Anderson, Jacob Anderson, Kelly Carranza, Christopher Carranza, Sam Carranza, Kinsleigh Whitehead, Lainey Bryant, and Lucas Bryant, AND 2 great-great grandchildren: Athena Anderson and Memphis Gore. Vassie enjoyed a rich profession in public service as County Coordinator for Senior Services through TARCOG and Marshall County Council on Ageing. She later would become an employee of the City of Albertville as Director of Albertville Senior Center where she would eventually retire after enjoying a lengthy and successful career. She was blessed with a servant’s spirit and continued to participate in many volunteer opportunities throughout her post-retirement years, the most recent being volunteer work for Shepherd’s Cove Hospice. She loved her friends at Shepherd’s Cove and spoke often of how grateful she was for her time there which kept her busy and social after J.C.’s passing. A devout Christian, Vassie was a lifelong member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Albertville. She loved to live and told her family on numerous occasions that she hoped to make it to 100 years old! Though God had other plans, her family is thankful for the 89 years her life touched the world. She left her Earthly home suddenly, leaving behind many family members and friends who will miss her terribly, but we take comfort in knowing she has now entered the gates of her Heavenly Home, with her precious Savior and loved ones gone before her. We know it was a glorious reunion, and we look forward to the day we, too, will see her again! Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 5th, at Adams Brown Funeral Home in Albertville from 5-8pm, followed by a Celebration of Vassie’s life (Adams Brown) on Thursday, September 6th, 2 pm, with Brother Brent Roe officiating. Burial will take place after the service in Memory Hill Cemetery, Albertville. Pallbearers will be Matt Bryant, Auston Gore, Dwain Elder, Avery Anderson, Robbey Holsonback, and Luke Lathan.
