This year we’ve already received many animals that needed medical attention and Chloe’s Fund must replenish its bank account! What better way to do that than with sweets for your sweet at a Valentine’s Day (themed) Bake Sale. In addition to Valentine’s Day treats, we’ll have Gift Baskets and assorted presents to purchase for animal lovers. Everything will be available from 8am-2pm on Friday, February 8 at the Florence-Lauderdale Government Building, located at 102 S. Court Street (the building with time and temperature on top) in downtown Florence.
Bakers are also needed to contribute their Valentine’s Day themed goodies to the Sale. All kinds of home-made cakes, cookies, pies, etc. are appreciated. Individual cake slices, groups of cookies, lemon bars, or the like must be wrapped individually and marked with item name and price. You can drop off baked goods on Thursday, February 7th at the Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter (702 E College Street) from 10am-5pm. If you have any questions please call Dianne Michael at 256-740-2386.

Chloe’s Fund was started in March of 2017 after Shelter volunteers, Glen and Debby Nelson lost their beloved dog of 16 years, Chloe. After Chloe’s passing, Debby set out on a mission to help as many sick and injured Florence-Lauderdale Animal Shelter animals as possible. Since its inception, Chloe’s Fund vetted countless number of cats and dogs suffering from various illnesses and in need of medical attention and medication. Prior to Chloe’s Fund, the Florence Lauderdale Animal Shelter could not treat every unwell cat or dog that entered its doors. Their only hope was the possibility of a rescue organization stepping up and financing the needed veterinary care. For those animals with costly medical bills predicted and no rescue hero in sight, our dedicated shelter employees were faced with heartbreaking decisions; these decisions never get easier and no one ever willingly wants to make them.

Don’t forget your Valentine’s Day treats available from 8am-2pm on Friday, February 8 at the Florence-Lauderdale Government Building, located at 102 S. Court Street (the building with time and temperature on top) in downtown Florence. With your help, Chloe’s Fund will continue to help save the lives of hundreds of animals. We thank you for your generosity and hope that we can count on you in the upcoming year.
