Ursula Vowe Smith, age 78, Of Guntersville, died Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at her residence.
Mrs. Smith was born April 14, 1937, in Detmold, Germany, to Theodor and Martha Holzhausen Vowe. She married Dr. Braxton F. Smith, MD in 1959. They moved to Arab in 1961 and later to Guntersville, where they lived for 20 years. Mrs. Smith worked as a nurse at Huntsville Hospital, and then later took on the role of homemaker. She was a member of Arab First United Methodist Church.
Survivors are her husband of 56 years: Dr. Braxton F. Smith, MD; Sons and daughters-in-law: Steve and Yon Smith and Ty and Jill Smith; a daughter: Melita Elizabeth Smith; a sister: Gisela Galzerano; grandchildren: Alex Tankersley, Evan Tankersley, Sammy Tankersley, Hannah Smith and Alice Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at the Arab First United Methodist Church at 12 noon, with Rev. Steve West, Rev. Roy Bryant, and Rev. Mike Shirley officiating.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 5, 2015, from 11 a.m. until service time at 12 noon.
