ATHENS-With thunderstorms in the forecast for Saturday evening, organizers of the North Pole Stroll in Athens have rescheduled Santa’s visit to Friday, December 16, from 5-7 p.m.
Santa will read “Night Before Christmas” to children at the stroll located at Big Spring Memorial Park in Downtown Athens at the duck pond. Athens Parks and Recreation crews set up bleachers to accommodate children who want to enjoy story time with Santa. This is a free attraction.
Families can see the Christmas trees donated by Lowe’s of Athens that have been decorated by various
businesses and agencies with themes such as showcasing family pets, honoring those who have or are battling cancer, Limestone County history and more.
Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful also brought back the snowman family made from recycled tires with this year’s theme for the family being, “Tired of Waiting on Santa.”
The North Pole Stroll is available for viewing throughout December. The event is a gift to the community from Lowe’s of Athens, Athens-Limestone Tourism Association, City of Athens, Spirit of Athens, and Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful.
