DECATUR-We have an update on the shooting that took place in Decatur on Sunday, June 7. An arrest has been made.
Here is how the Decatur Police describe the arrest of on suspect:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
On June 7, 2015 at 10:05 pm, Morgan County Central Dispatch received a shooting call at the intersection of Cleveland Ave at Cedar St SW. Officers with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division and First Responders were dispatched to the scene, arriving at 10:10 pm.
Robert Navarrete Jr. was located at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound to his neck. Robert was transported by Medflight to Huntsville Hospital. Robert is currently in critical condition.
Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit were notified and responded to the scene.
Detectives learned there was a large group of people involved in a verbal altercation. During the altercation a juvenile fired a gun striking Robert in the neck. The juvenile fled the scene.
On June 8, 2015 the juvenile that shot Robert was located outside a residence in Decatur, AL by Officers Johnny Jones and Jasmin Ferizovic with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division. The juvenile was arrested and charged with Assault 1st Degree. The juvenile was transported to the Tennessee Valley Juvenile Detention Facility in Tuscumbia, AL per the Morgan County Juvenile Probation Office.”
