ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson issued a follow-up statement on the shooting that took place in Athens in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 17…three people were shot resulting in the death of one man:

“The person that was shot and died yesterday morning on McClung Lane was Christopher Demond Carter. He lived on Hammond Road in Harvest and was 29 years old.

I meet with our investigators this morning; we went over evidence collected and statements taken in the case. Our investigation will be continuing for several weeks to come. We have evidence that will have to be sent for examination and analyses.  When this case in completed our department will give a copy to the District Attorney’s office. The District Attorney can then make the decision to present the case to a future Grand Jury to determine if criminal charges will be brought in this case.”
