Upcoming Fun Is Happening In Athens…Check It Out

ATHENS-Athens has several activities that are upcoming. There will be something for everyone.

Field Day 2022 — Athens Radio Club The Amateur Radio Field Day will be Saturday at Swan Creek Park at 10 a.m. Athens State American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Student Branch in conjunction with the local Athens Amateur Radio Club will launch two high altitude telemetry balloons at 10 a.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Also, save the date for Tourism’s Red, White and Boom Fireworks Show (sponsored by the city, county, Athens Gas and Tourism). The show will be July 4 at dusk, weather permitting. The fireworks will be at the Athens High Stadium on U.S. 31. Because of the location of the fireworks platform, there will not be any seating at the stadium. Please park in designated parking areas that are open to the public, such as Swan Creek Park, Sportsplex, the school campuses on U.S. 31, etc.

Athens Police will provide traffic control after the show if officers are not responding to an emergency.

Cultivate Church is offering free hot dogs, soft drinks and cotton candy during the fireworks show. The church will set up in the Athens Plaza on U.S. 31 across from Athens Middle.
