LEIGHTON-Warmer weather has begun at the LaGrange College Site Park and we are excited about preparing for the up-coming events. We have listed here a few events coming up in the near future.
Recall LaGrange-Distillery Raid 2023 – this event will be held on May 5 and 6 from 10AM until 4PM (APPLICATIONS )AVAILABLE NOW FOR ARTS/CRAFTS & VENDORS)
k-9 TRAINING – this event is set for April 6 through 8. Thanks to Corey Speegle who is sponsoring this event this year.
School Field Trips – LLHA members are scheduling School Field Trips and Tours for the public now. For information telephone 256-446-9324. Several of the LLHA guides that assisted interpreting the College history to the students.
LLHA MEETINGS: 1ST SUNDAY OF MONTH: 2pm
WORK IS SCHULED SOON ON THE LOG HOUSE LOCATED ON HWY 157 & LAGRANGE COLLEGE RD.
PERSONAL DONATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR UP-KEEP OF THE PARK AND THE HISTORIC CEMETERY CONTRIBUTIONS ARE ALWAYS TAX DEDUCIABLE
AND DEEPLY APPRECIATED. THERE ARE SO MANY PROJECTS THAT NEED TO BE COMPLETED. WE ENCOURAGE OUR FRIENDS OFLAGRANGE COLLEGE, FORERUNNER OF UNA , TO JOIN US IN THIS VENTUE. L. C. LENZ (AND MYSELF, LOUISE) HAVE DONATED 34 YEARS TO THE RESTORATION OF THIS HISTORIC PARK AND WE APPRECIATE THE YEARS YOU HAVE PROVIDED SINCE THE ORGANIZATING THE LAGRANGE LIVING HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION IN FEB. 1988, MANY OF OUR EARLIER MEMBERS HAVE PASSED AND NOW NEW FOLKS ARE JOINING. US. WE HAVE BEEN BLESSED. AND APPRECIATE YOUR INPUT NOW
L. C. Lenz, president of the LaGrange Living Historical Association is shown presenting the president of the Tennessee Valley Historical Society, Chris Ozbirn a copy of the King Genealogy. The Historical Society was established 100 years ago by Frank King and this year-2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment. Numerous events are being planned for the ceremony, including placing a historic marker in Leighton.
