October 1,8,15,22,29, 2022 – Haunted Hayrides, LaGrange College Site Park, 1491 LaGrange College Road, Leighton. Every Saturday in October LaGrange Living Historical Association will host its annual Haunted Hayrides. LaGrange Mountain & cemetery is known as one of the most haunted places in Alabama! Parking is at the Old Tabernacle, and rides begin there each night at 7pm. Admission is $5; ages 6 & under are free. Info: Amanda 256-856-0927
October 7, 14, 21, 2022 – Hitchcock Film Series at the Ritz, 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield. This October, spend your Friday nights with the Master of Suspense himself, Alfred Hitchcock! The Ritz Theatre will host a thrilling film series of three of his top films, perfect for this season of fright. You’ll never think about neighbors, crows, or showers the same way again. October 8, 2022 – TVAA Fall Festival & Movie Night on the Commons, on the Commons in front of TVMA, 511 N Water St, Tuscumbia. Join us for some free family fun! Bring the whole family to the Tuscumbia Commons for food, games, crafts, and an outdoor movie. Festivities will be 5-8 pm. October 9, 2022 – Shoals Symphony Under the Rock, Rattlesnake Saloon, 1292 Mt Mills Rd, Tuscumbia. The Rattlesnake Saloon is the inspirational setting for this outside concert featuring Berklee contemporary artists Darol Anger and Eugene Friesen. Wear comfortable shoes and take in the sights of nature and sounds of music. Delicious appetizers and colorful libations included. October 20, 2022—United Way’s Witches Ride, begins at Wilson Park, downtown Florence at 6pm.
Get dressed in your “witch’s best” for UW’s annual Witches Ride benefitting Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. (Candy & Quench truck for the kids.) Celebrate afterwards at participating downtown restaurants with food and drink specials. Awards given for: Best Coven Theme, Best Costume – Witch/Warlock, Best Decorated Bike/Broom. October 20, 2022 – Muscle Shoals Music: Songwriters in the Round, Champy’s, 120 E 2nd St, Muscle Shoals. Colbert County Tourism will sponsor a monthly music event each third Thursday of 2022. Local songwriter and Wishbone Studio owner Billy Lawson, host and emcee, will be joined by songwriter Ed Hill. Come hear the music and stories from the original artists. This free event will be 7-9pm.

October 22 & 23, 2022 – 36th Alabama Renaissance Faire, Wilson Park, downtown Florence. Take a step back in time at Alabama’s official Renaissance Faire in “Renaissance City.”
Wilson Park is transformed into Fountain-on-the-Green for an entire weekend, with vendors, demonstrators and performers on location. October 20 & 21, 2022 – “Blood Moon: A Historic Haunted Recording Studio”, Cypress Moon Studios,
1000 Alabama Ave, Sheffield. The Muscle Shoals Music Association in partnership with Cypress Moon Studios presents “Blood Moon” boasting 15,000 square feet of thrills and chills at Cypress Moon Studios, formally Muscle Shoals Sound Riverside. A portion of the proceeds will go towards the MSMA and will be an incredible (and spooky) event that will bring the performing arts and music community together. Event is Rain or Shine. October 28 & 29, 2022 – Ghost Stories of Haunted Sheffield, multiple locations. Join knowledgeable host, Laura Aldridge, as she regales you with tales steeped in legend folklore, and truth. As twilight creeps over the homes and hidden courtyards of historic downtown Sheffield, prepare to witness the mysterious and inexplicable. Stories will include downtown Sheffield’s most haunted restaurant, the story of the historic neighborhood where scores of Sheffield citizens met a grisly fate, a recording studio where a session musician still haunts the living, homes of famous residents whose ghosts still walk the halls of their past lives, and much more! Friday Trolley Tour ($25 advance tickets) begins at 7:30pm at the parking lot across from Sheffield Utilities (300 N Nashville Ave). October 29, 2022 – Hocus Pocus movie screening, 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield. It’s time to run Amok! Amok! Amok! at The Ritz! We invite witches and warlocks of all ages to come watch the Halloween classic on our big screen. We’ll also have a costume contest (for folks in Hocus Pocus-themed costumes), as well as trick-or-treat bags for anyone wearing a costume (any theme). Show times will be at 2pm and 7pm. November 12-13 & 18-20, 2022 – Sanders Family Christmas, Ritz Theatre 111 W 3rd St, Sheffield. Sanders Family Christmas is the sequel to Connie Ray and Alan Bailey’s wildly successful bluegrass gospel musical Smoke on the Mountain. It’s December 24, 1941, and America is going to war. So is Dennis Sanders, of the Sanders Family Singers. Join Pastor Mervin Oglethorpe and the rest of the Sanders family as they send Dennis off with hilarious and touching stories and twenty-five Southern Gospel Christmas favorites.
