FLORENCE-On Wednesday, Feb. 6, Porcelain Hill will be returning to The Z (416 N. Court St., Florence) to rock the house with special guests Flux.  Porcelain Hill is a high energy rock and roll band that perfectly blends blues, soul, funk, and punk. It’s music that plays to a live crowd, and tantalizes a recorded track. With heavy guitar riffs, thunderous drums, and a melodic bass line, Porcelain Hill is music you don’t listen to; it’s music you feel. Doors open at 8 pm, with Flux taking the stage at 8:30, followed by Porcelain Hill at 9:15. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door or in advance online at www.TheZTickets.Store.
The Z will be presenting “The Elephant Man” on Feb. 21-24, 2019. Performances will be at 7:30 pm on Feb. 21-23, with a matinee performance at 2pm on Sunday, Feb. 24. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students and will be available at the door beginning 30 minutes prior to curtain. Advance tickets are available at www.TheZTickets.Store. Group rates are available for groups of 10 or more. Please contact us for more information, either via Facebook Messenger or email at administrator@historiczodiacplayhouse.com.
“The Elephant Man” is based on the life of John Merrick, who lived in London during the latter part of the nineteenth century. A horribly deformed young man – victim of rare skin and bone diseases – he becomes the star freak attraction in traveling sideshows. Found abandoned and helpless, he is admitted to London’s prestigious Whitechapel Hospital. Under the care of celebrated young physician Frederick Treves, Merrick is introduced to London society and slowly evolves from an object of pity to an urbane and witty favorite of the aristocracy and literati, only to be denied his ultimate dream – to become a man like any other.

Winner of the 1979 Tony for Best Play and nominated for four additional Tonys for the 2015 Broadway revival.
This play is rated PG-13 for adult themes.

The cast includes Jesse Sockwell as Joseph Merrick, Brandon McCorkle as Dr. Treves, Amber Rhodes as Ms. Kendal, and an ensemble of Wendell Greenleaf, Michael Terrell, Josh Hendrix, Tammy Halsey, Shannen McDonald, and Tori Helms. Director is Martin Dean.
