FLORENCE– University of North Alabama graduate student Milan Patel placed second in the Entrepreneurship Concepts competition as part of the Phi Beta Lambda Awards of Excellence Program in San Antonio, Texas. The prize comes with a $600 monetary award.

“Entrepreneurship has become a big focus in our undergraduate business curriculum at UNA, so it is very encouraging to see Milan apply the knowledge and skills taught in our program to beat out strong competition from across the country,” said Dr. Jason Imbrogno, an assistant professor of economics and the Phi Beta Lambda advisor at UNA.

The event tested each competitor’s ability to think like an entrepreneur and apply that knowledge of entrepreneurship in a competitive environment. The competition consists of a 100-question exam that requires students to demonstrate the skills necessary to start and run a successful business.

Participants from across the United States attended the conference to enhance their business skills, expand their networks, and participate in 60 businesses and business-related competitive events. More than 2,000 of the country’s best and brightest college students traveled to Texas to compete for the opportunity to win more than $114,000 in cash awards.
