Una Mae Armstrong – Obituary

unaUna Mae Armstrong, 87, died Friday, June 20, 2014 at her residence. She was a lifetime native of Franklin County, a devoted homemaker and a long-time member of New Union Missionary Baptist Church.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at New Union Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Jones officiating. Burial will be in Halltown Cemetery, Vina, Al. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are two sons – Dennis Armstrong (Neva) Vina, Al. and Randall Armstrong (Christa) Littleville, Al.; one daughter – Leisa Johnson (Belton) Vina, Al.; two sisters – Nettie Armstrong, Pride Landing, Al. and Hettie Lee Pendegraph, Fulton, Ms.; one brother – James Strickland, Vina, Al.; seven grandchildren – Gary Armstrong, Bonita Armstrong, Benton Armstrong, LaShay Blansett (Dickey), Bart Johnson (Amanda), Michelle Rushing (Kelly) and Nick Patterson (Heather) and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Clinton Armstrong; her parents, Bose and Molcie Strickland; brothers, Walson, Clint, Morris, Harvey and Orvil Strickland and sisters, Pearl Morrow and Norvil Lindley.

Pallbearers will be grandsons – Gary Armstrong, Benton Armstrong, Bart Johnson, Dickey Blansett, Nick Patterson and Dakota Rushing. Honorary pallbearers will be Mattox Armstrong and Kaiden Blansett.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. and she will lie in state 2-3 p.m. on Sunday at the church.
