Ulyss “Doodle Bug” Harris, 94, of Blountsville, the Brooksville Community, passed away Saturday May 16, 2026, at his residence. Ulyss was born February 27, 1932, in Brooksville, Alabama, the son of William David Harris and Mattie Burton Harris. He served in the US Navy and was a heavy equipment operator for many years. He was married to Martha Alexander Harris for 61 years before her death on May 24, 2023. He is also preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.
Survivors include his children: Rita Higgins, James (Anne) Harris and Darryl (Annette) Harris; grandchildren: Summer Higgins, Ali Harris, Mikki Harris, Leah Harris and Shannon Harris along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral Service will be 12:00 p.m. Saturday May 23, 2026, at Gober Funeral Chapel with Brother Charles Brown and Brother Ricky Statham officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Diamond Cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel directing.
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Saturday.
