Uar Lee Silas, Sr., 91, of Haleyville, entered into rest on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Lakeland Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 29, 1923 in Brilliant, Alabama. Uar Lee served in the United States Army during World War II as a Platoon Sergeant.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville, where services will be held Thursday, March 20, 2014 at 2 pm. Brother Ricky Grimes and Brother Jeff Wiggins will officiate. Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.
Uar Lee is survived by his sons, Uarlee (Brenda) Silas, Jr., Ronald Dale (Debra) Silas; daughter, Linda (Steve) Borden; brother, Vernon (Mary) Silas; sisters, Gladys Burleson, Evelyn (Ellis) Thomas and Irene Lewis. He was “PaPa” to thirteen grandchildren, Stacie Garris, Stephanie Gray, Jessica Williams, Jennifer Silas, Eric Silas, Christopher Silas, Kendra Silas, Jerry Borden, Richard Borden, Bridgette Borden, Daniel Silas, Matthew Silas, Joshua Silas and eighteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Silas; parents, John and Bertha Rawls Silas; son, David Silas; great-grandson, Christian Silas; brother, Ulas Silas; sisters, Beatrice Parr, Christine Flanagan and brother-in-law, Alvis Burleson.
