Tyra I. Smith of Huntsville passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
Tyra was born on September 20, 1964, in New Jersey to Milton Clay Smith and Carolyn Jeanne Sivley Smith. He retired from the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) after 25 years of dedicated service.
Tyra was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and also enjoyed cheering on Auburn football. He loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing on the lake or river with family and friends.
He is survived by his son, Lucas Smith, and his stepson, Kevin Smith.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Family and friends will be notified once arrangements have been made.
